HOA Overview

St Jones Commons is a Deed Restricted community. The Deed Restrictions can be obtained by clicking here. We also have By-Laws, and Schedule of Fines that detail how the Board of Directors operate.

Meetings

Board meetings are open to the community and are held quarterly. Just before the quarterly board meeting, the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) meets to approve/reject submitted projects that are required by the Deed Restrictions. Minutes are recorded and published on this site when accepted (a few days after a meeting). Monthly financial reports handled in a similar manner. The community has an opportunity to present suggestions or concerns to the board at the beginning of the meeting, but once the Community Forum is over, please limit comments. In an effort to expedite these sessions, please limit you time to three minutes. Be patient and civil and when someone has the floor, allowing them to complete their comments and respond once the Board has recognized you.

The Annual meeting is held in October. It is then that we present how the community is progressing. In April if a meeting is scheduled, we address spring cleanup, pool and safety issues. In October, elections are held for positions on the board and the budget for the next year is presented along with the assessments for the next year.

Common Areas

The community has seven common areas. The most prominent and used is the area in front of the clubhouse. This area is for the use of the members of the community. It is maintained with your annual assessment. There is a sprinkler system and is cut and fertilized by contractors. Please don't drive or park your vehicle on the grass as this tends to damage sprinkler heads as well as destroy the grass. The water retention pond gathers storm water and releases it into the St Jones River. The rocks along the banks are crucial to reducing erosion and we ask that the children don't walk there or throw them into the pond. The pond is stocked with fish and we hope you have many hours of enjoyment there. Remember, it is "Catch and Release" only. The pool, perhaps the biggest asset of this community, is there for your enjoyment during the summer months from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The
Clubhouse is available for community members to use for events. A refundable deposit is required. To schedule use of the clubhouse, please contact a board member at BOD@StJonesCommons.Com. A copy of the Clubhouse User Agreement will need to be filled out prior to scheduling a date for use.

Board of Directors

The board is made up of seven Directors, serving two year terms. Four of these positions are titled officers: President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary, serving one year terms. Elections are held annually, and members are nominated by ballots and in-person at the October meeting. Information on your Board of Directors (BOD) can be found here.

Committees

  • Architectural Review Committee (ARC) reviews all proposed changes to your property such as additions, fences and decks. Plans detailing distance to property line, variances, materials and color need to be submitted to the Homeowners Association prior to commencement of project. Once reviewed, notification will be sent by certified mail on the disposition of the project (approval/rejection). More information can be found on the ARC Information page.
  • The Pool Committee and the Nomination Committee are two other groups that assist the community with ensuring the elections are run impartially and the pool is managed during the summer season.
  • The Social Committee is responsible for planning and coordinating social activities such as holiday events, block parties, children events and other community social events. It encourages the community to get involved as well by submitting social ideas and helping with events. Visit our Events page for more information.
